The 80s Called…but They Are Not Getting These Legwarmers Back

In the spirit of challenging myself to try new things,  I decided to try to add some new types of fitness classes to my exercise regimen. I recently started doing a Barre Blend program. I avoided this program when I saw it originally because I thought that it wasn’t going to give me the bang for my buck that I was getting with some of the other HIIT or traditional programs. Well, let me tell you... I was completely wrong. This class is kicking my but just as much as any HIIT or Insanity workout ever has and I can see some real changes in the shape of my body as a result.

So one of the fun and interesting parts about Barre is the type of clothes that the participants wear. You could definitely wear the same stuff you normally wear to the gym or exercise class but why do that when you could wear awesome things like yoga socks and leg warmers? This brings me to today’s post...

Most of the people in the Barre class were wearing leg warmers. I was like “is this still a thing?” It feels very retro and let me just say I am here for it. So of course upon first glance, I thought to myself, “I am sure I can crochet some of those”. And the hunt for the perfect pattern was on. Once I found the pattern, I grabbed some yarn out of my stash. I had been saving this particular yarn for the perfect project and this was it. I went to work it was surprisingly easy to make. I would go as far to say a beginner could easily make these. I would encourage you to give it a try. I love these so much that I plan to make several more pairs. Now I just have to figure out where else I can wear these things.

I love this pattern. It was so easy. I followed the basic pattern and only made a few changes. Since the yarn I used had color changes worked in, I did not make any color changes and just worked from bottom to top using the same yarn.

Find the Pattern here: Sugar Rush Crochet Leg Warmers Pattern.

Before you get started you’ll need:

4.0 mm Crochet Hooks

5.0 mm Crochet Hooks

7.0 mm Crochet Hooks

Worsted Weight Yarn (I used Red Heart Super saver in Grape Fizz)

Here are the finished results, all I need now is a rockin’ headband.
