Mixing Drinks in the Era of Corona
Doing social things lately has been an adventure in improvisation. From drive-by graduations and baby showers to family holiday zoom meals together. Over the past week, I had an opportunity to do some “virtual bartending” for a birthday party and I have to say I really enjoyed it. My friend was throwing a Zoom Birthday party for her mother and reached out to see if I wanted to possibly share a video or do a live mixing session for the ladies. What an amazing idea! I decided to do it live and had to think through how to make this tutorial be both fun and be entertaining. So, in talking with my friend about what she envisioned, we decided that I would do a virtual mixology class with a signature drink for the party.
I was super nervous about the whole thing but knew it would be a great experience for me as I always like diving into something new. So I got organized and planned everything out. I put together a shopping list for the party guests and tried to find some interesting facts to share with the ladies while we were mixing. I have to say I had the time of my life chatting with the ladies, teaching them a little about bartending, and even making them laugh a little. I hope that they enjoyed this experience as much as I did. And I would absolutely, love to start doing this more often.
For this particular birthday party, I wanted to make a batch drink so that the lades could make several servings at once and the party didn’t have to stop when they wanted another round. I landed on teaching them how to make a Sparkling Peach Sangria. Keep reading for the Shopping list and recipe.
