3 Simply Refreshing Recipes for National Mimosa Day

It’s National Mimosa Day, and I am loving it. Mimosas always make me think of celebrating or relaxing and I am here for either right about now.

Mimosa recipes are refreshing and straightforward, and there are hundreds of ways to make them your own. Although Mimosas taste magical, like they were sent from the Gods of brunch to help us feel fabulous, there is nothing mysterious about this equal parts mixture. All mimosas are half juice and half champagne or sparkling wine. However, you are welcome to adjust that ratio to your own tastes.

Now, for my friends who would rather not imbibe (or make it kid-friendly), you can easily substitute sparkling grape juice for champagne.

The “O.G.” O.J. Mimosa

The traditional Mimosa ratio is 1:1 champagne and orange juice. So you fill the glass half full with the champagne, then fill to the top with orange juice. Since most champagne glasses are small, this requires 3 to 4 ounces of champagne per mimosa.

Important Note: The absolute only rule to Mimosas is making sure that both the sparkling wine and the orange juice are cold (you do not want to have to add ice to this cocktail).

Just Peachy Mimosa

This is one of my new favorites. You guys know I adore peach cocktails. Now that Simply has a Peach juice in stores, I can have Peach Mimosas and I may never go back.

Recipe

  1. Pour Simply® Peach Juice Drink into champagne flute filling half full.

  2. Top with your favorite champagne, sparkling wine or sparkling grape juice.

  3. Garnish with fresh peach slices.

The Sunrise Mimosa

Now for those of you that want to create a fancier and more beautiful looking drink for your Mimosa Day activities, try this recipe on for size. To achieve the ombré from red to yellow, you need to mix this cocktail a specific way. Using a spoon placed on one side of the top edge of your glass, slowly pour the grenadine over the spoon to drizzle down the side. The grenadine will settle in at the bottom and you will have created a stunning sunrise inspired drink to impress your friends.

Recipe

1.   Pour orange juice into champagne flute filling almost half full.

2.   Drop in a maraschino cherry.

3.   Fill the rest of the glass with champagne.

4.   Pour a spoonful of grenadine into the glass. If you drizzle it down the side of the glass, you will get that nice graduated shading.

5.   Garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry.

Enjoy!
