A Witch’s Brew Cocktail: Our way of Celebrating National Liqueur Day

It’s National Liqueur Day!

What are Liqueurs?

Liqueurs, also known as cordials or schnapps, are strong alcoholic beverages distilled and sweetened and with herbs, fruits, nuts, cream, or spices.

So what’s the difference between a liqueur and a liquor?

There is often confusion about liqueurs and liquors. The easiest way to decide if what you are drinking is a liqueur vs. a liquor is that liqueurs are typically a sweeter, syrupy consistency than a liquor. Most of the liqueurs have a lower alcohol content than spirits.

What kind of liqueurs are there?

There are countless types and flavors of liqueur. Some of the most popular include Amaretto, Kahlua, Bailey’s Irish Cream, Limoncello, Chambord, and Jagermeister. Try one of the more unusual flavors to Celebrate National Liqueur Day! Or Try this amazing recipe using raspberry liqueur.

Note: sanding sugar is typically available in any supermarket near the baking supplies. If you can’t find the color you want, simply use one drop of food coloring to regular granulated sugar and have fun with it.
